Pinot Meunier 2024
'Peacock Vineyard'
Oakbank, Adelaide Hills
Bright-fruited, soft, and moreish, the 2024 Moorak Pinot Meunier sits confidently in the lighter red spectrum. A more mature expression in its dry red form, displaying savoury complexity from extended barrel maturation, while maintaining its distinctive varietal character.
VINEYARD:
Grown by Michael Sawyer the Peacock Vineyard is based on the southern western side of Oakbank, Adelaide Hills.
AROMA/FLAVOUR:
Cranberry, bramble, and delicate sweet oak toast.
STYLE:
Herbal, soft and dynamic.
WHEN/WHERE TO DRINK:
Served chilled when in the mood for something fresh, and at room temperature to see its full character.
WHAT TO EAT WITH:
Charred Vegetables, smoked meats and hard cheese.
WINEMAKER NOTES:
2024 brought low yields from this block, resulting in just 45 dozen produced. The fruit was 100% de-stemmed to show its varietal character before pressing to stainless post-ferment. After 12-hours of settling, then barrelled down to its new home—a single seasoned puncheon—where it matured on its fine lees for 10 months, developed in complexity through extended elevage.
